Restoring devices

Restore from a backup (only recommended for those with prior experience)

Prior knowledge is required in order to restore from a backup.

As a general rule, backups should only be copied onto the machine on which the backup was originally carried out. The TwinCAT runtime version and platform both need to be identical on the backup you created. (You can monitor this in the job’s event log).

1. Start the Config-Modus on the controller (in the task list, right-click on System > Config).
2. The Boot directory of the controller can be found C:TwinCAT ``(for example,: 3.1)Boot
3. Create a backup copy of the Boot directory:
4. Delete the contents of the Boot directory:
5. Copy the data in the Boot directory of the backup to the boot directory of the device:
6. Start the Run-Modus on the controller (in the task list, right-click on System > Start).
