Configuring communication between agent and server
After the installation of an agent, the agent must be configured in the AdminClient to ensure communication with the octoplant server via TCP/IP.
- Start the AdminClient and open the Jobs module.
- Select Start.
- In the toolbar, click on the option Agent configuration.
- The Agent configuration dialog will then open.
-
Click on Create new agent.

- In Agent settings, enter the name and the IP address or computer name of the Client where the Agent will be installed and will perform its tasks.
Note
- Agents are assigned to a job by name. This name must therefore be unique.
- Activate the option Port for upload agent and Port for compare agent. You can use one or both agents, according to the necessary requirements.
- Set the port number (s).The default ports are:
- 64010 for the upload agent
- 64011 for the compare agent
- These default ports are unlocked for the agents when installing the octoplant system in the firewall. As long as the ports are not blocked by other applications, they can be used without the need for changes.
- However, the ports can also be changed if necessary. You can change the ports using the
Csc.ini
file (file path:vdAgentArchiveVD$AConfiguration
). - After you have made changes in the
Csc.ini
file, the agent services must be restarted. - From the dropdown menu, select the CSC Gateway to which the agent should be assigned.
- Click on Save and close.
Note
After saving, an attempt will be made to pair new agents. This is usually completed within a few seconds, but it can take up to a few minutes depending on the server system load. During this time, selecting the path selection in the job configuration will not work.
