Managing a CMOS.BIN MOTOMAN project file
To create a backup of a MOTOMAN robot, theCMOS.bin file needs to be backed up along with the rest of the data. The CMOS.bin file cannot be saved automatically. Save the file on an external medium (USB stick or external hard disk) and then integrate it into octoplant. Follow the next steps depending on your case:
Managing the CMOS.bin in a separate component
- Copy the CMOS.BIN file to a compact flash card or other portable storage device.
- In UserClient, create a new MOTOMAN NX100 component.
- Right-click on the selected component and then choose Open in file manager or press Ctrl+E.
- Copy the CMOS.BIN into the working directory.
- In the UserClient, click on Create base version and Check-In.
Managing the CMOS.bin in the same component as the versioned robot files
- In UserClient, create a new MOTOMAN NX100 component.
- Copy the CMOS.BIN into the working directory.
- In the UserClient, click on Create base version and Check-In.
- Open the AdminClient and click on Jobs.
- Create a new job for your MOTOMAN component:
- Select the MOTOMAN project.
- Click on Create or move the MOTOMAN component into the Jobs section with the drag-and-drop function.
- Configure the job in Motoman robot settings:
- In Device, enter the IP address.
- Enter a valid Username.
- Enter then the appropriate Password.
- In the Upload field, select the option Program and controller.
- Check the Enable custom configuration for this job checkbox.
- Click on Edit.
- Go to the fieldCompare these files and select the line cmos.bin and then select Remove.Image: Dialog Compare configuration of backup files, file cmos.bin
- Exclude the line containing the timestamp of the system.sys file:Go to the field Compare these files and click on Configure comparator.Image: Dialog Compare configuration of backup files, files.SYS*
- In the field Exclude lines from comparison, enter the following text: TOTAL : 2???/??/?? ??:??,?????:??’??.Image: Dialog Configure comparison, exclude lines from comparison
- Click on OK.
- Save your changes.
- Click on the button Execute selected jobs once.
- Open the UserClient, open the Jobs tab and then select the job.
- In the dialog below, select the backup you want to copy.
- In the menu tab, select Copy version to directory.
- Select the working directory of your component as destination and click on Next.

Click on Replace and copy. !!! warning If you select Delete contents then copy, you will delete the file CMOS.bin.

Select the Home tab.
- Click on Create a new version.
- Click on Check-In new version.
