Using agents to connect the IPC with TwinCAT V3
- Install an upload agent and a compare agent on the IPC.
- Open the AdminClient and configure the Upload and compare agents section.
TwinCAT uses AMS Net-IDs to facilitate communication between devices. This is why you need to assign a virtual AMS Net-ID to your agent
Assigning a virtual AMS Net ID to your octoplant agent
- Create a AgentStation.ini file (if you have not already done so) on the computer on which the agent is installed (in most cases this will be the IPC). Do so in the following directory:
<vdAgentArchive>VD$AConfigurationUpload
. - Enter the AgentStation.ini file in the [TwinCAT] section (if it has not already been added to this section) and enter the key 5370 and your AMS Net-ID (for example, 10.255.50.142.10.10) underneath. This value must stand for your octoplant server / agent. We recommend that you use the AMS Net-ID of the IPC. We also recommend that you replace the last two digits with .10.10. If this AMS Net-ID is already in use, select the next available AMS Net-ID.
Example:
Configure TwinCAT V3 on the IPC from which you wish to carry out an upload.
