KB-127452: Creating jobs

Creating jobs

In octoplant, jobs can be executed on a schedule that checks whether the program on the device is the same as the last version checked in or if the latest version has been implemented on all devices.

In addition to this, you can create jobs in octoplant that produce a backup of a device.

In order to perform uploads, octoplant must be able to access Schneider Unity. This means, the software should be installed on the same computer as the octoplant server. If this is not possible, you need Upload and Compare Agents to enable octoplant to access the computer on which Schneider Unity is installed. Install the agents on the computer, before you create a job.

In order to configure jobs for devices using Schneider Unity Pro, proceed as follows

  1. Start the AdminClient and open the Jobs module.
  2. In the Project tree, select the Schneider Unity component.
  3. In the menu tab, click on Create or drag-and-drop the components into the Jobs section.
  4. Check if the upload type Schneider Unity is being displayed in the section Job configuration.
  5. Make sure the desired settings are in place for the following sections: General, Notification, Upload and compare, Create a version automatically after job run. The Notification and Create a version automatically after job run sections are only displayed if the necessary settings have been implemented.
  6. Configure the access parameters on the controller using Schneider Unity settings. 1. Image: Job Configuration, Schneider Unity Settings section 1. Under Project, select the Schneider Unity Pro project. This step is only required if more than one project is present in the component. 1. In the dropdown menu Access path, select the protocol that you want to use to communicate with the device. 1. In Device, enter the IP address or name of the device. 1. In the case of Password protected Schneider Unity projects, enter under the Application password the password that can be used to log onto the device. 1. In the Connection mode dropdown menu, select whether upload and comparison should be performed as before (Programming mode) or whether only a checksum comparison should be performed (Surveillance mode). 1. When you select Surveillance mode, the controller’s signatures will be compared with each other. Only changes are detected and the control is displayed as changed.

Note

  1. No restore can be performed using the backup of a checksum comparison.
    1. Optional: If you additionally want to save current values, check the checkbox Save data from PLC to file. The data will be stored in a DTX file.

Note

  1. With this option the data is only backed up, No comparison is carried out.
  2. Optional: If you want to archive a simulator, check the checkbox Upload from simulator.
