KB-132928: Assigning group roles

Assigning group roles

This function can be used to assign a group without administrator rights access to all modules in the AdminClient, with the exception of the User Managementmodule. For example, users can be authorized to configure and run jobs, but not to change the global server settings. In this way, tasks and responsibilities can be better distributed among individual employees.

By checking the corresponding checkbox, the Easy Asset Integrator feature can also be used.

Give a group access to a specific module or the Easy Asset Integrator

  1. Go to the User Management module.
  2. In the Groups pane to the left, select the group whose rights you wish to edit.
  3. Click on the tab’s right hand side, click on Group roles.
  4. Check one or more checkboxes for the corresponding modules in the AdminClient and for the Easy Asset Integrator.
    1. Image: Group roles tab
    2. Save the changes.

To revoke the rights from a group, clear the corresponding checkboxes and save the changes.

Note

For the following groups, the group role is set by default and cannot be changed:

All Users Every versiondog user is automatically a member of the group All Users. For this reason, all the checkboxes corresponding to the AdminClient modules are deactivated.
Administrators versiondog administrators always have access to the entire system. For this reason, the group Administrators has access to extensive administrative privileges that cannot be revoked.

Warning

The Script Management group role can be used to execute arbitrary program code and actions on the server, the connected agents, and all clients that use this server. Therefore, please pay careful attention to whom you assign this group role, for example, by requiring the same trust relationship with this person as with an administrator.
