Term version

A version is a “snapshot” of the content of a component (for example, an S7 project). Versions are always created for individual components only.

A version is created when important changes in the project need to be saved for possible recovery. Only one version can be created at a time. When a new version is created, the files in the component and its subdirectories are saved in a new version in the file system after applying the rules in the comparator configuration. For this purpose, the information about the reason for change, comments, version identifier, etc. is stored in parallel in the metadata for the component.

Versions are automatically documented with user name, computer, date and time.
