The latest changes increase the stability and efficiency of the server system update and migration process:

• From octoplant 101.3.0 onward, it will no longer be possible to execute clients directly from a USB stick (portable device). Instead, a local installation will be required. This has been done to increase security.
• Due to internal changes aimed at increasing performance and security (e.g. migrating to PostgreSQL 15 as well as integrating new functionalities), from octoplant 101.3.0 onward, the software can be run on the following Windows operating systems:

  Minimum version: Windows Server 2016

• From version 101.3.0, Full Qualified Domain Names (FQDN) or SPNs (Microsoft), are required for Single-Sign-On (SSO). The use of IP addresses for SSO no longer meets the current security requirements and is therefore no longer supported.

USER MANAGEMENT

For System Administrators it is vital to manage their Users efficiently and intuitively. This service has now been improved:

• As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing security standards, we have updated our software so that, from octoplant 101.3.0 onward, passwords must have a minimum length of at least one character and it will no longer be possible to use user accounts that have no password in place.
• Logging in with an empty password will also no longer be possible. Should you be affected by this change, please contact your administrator.
• We strongly recommend that you only use strong, secure passwords (see Best Practices in our online help for more information)

EASE OF USE / UI

For a simpler and more secure handling of and access to information, we have improved the user interface:

• To improve the security of the product as a whole as well as to improve user friendliness by reducing the number of client applications, both the WebClient and WebServer will be removed (end-of-life).
• Factory Floor Status information can now be accessed using an export in ExportModule (for customers with an active Factory Floor Status license). Moving forward, Factory Floor Status data will be available in octoplant pro hub.
• Important Note: The WebServer configuration and the protocols in serverarchive/VD$A/Webserver will be deleted. All files in this directory will be lost once an update is carried out.
• Multi-Factor-Authentication (MFA) via Open Authentication 2.0 (OIDC) for Azure AD added (optional activation).

• Database migration to PostgreSQL finalized. This means that Firebird database is no longer used on the server but on the client.
• Changes made to Archive Manager to achieve stable offloading of data/information using PostgreSQL databases.
• Bug fix for server synchronization to ensure that, even with special configurations, the process can still be performed successfully.
• Bug fix in BackupClient to ensure that it no longer crashes in exceptional cases when logging in for the first time.

We have also conducted a number of additional changes to improve your user experience:

• BackupClient: Synchronization with the server also possible without administrator rights.
• Improvement to internal debugging output to simplify root cause analysis of license issues.
• Update to the used third-party libraries in the program directory.
• Fixed issue in which an \"OWASP CSV Injection\" could be used on a CSV export.
• Client information will no longer be included in the usage information exported from the server for security reasons.
• Implementation of a new cyclic data and information exchange (incl. asset information) between server and hub.

• Image Service upload class is configured so that, after a backup takes place, the rollover in the target directory is always correctly carried out.
• To enable an automatic reconnect after an extended connection failure, the validity of the OAuth2-RefreshToken was increased.

For a simpler and more secure handling of and access to information, we have improved the user interface:

• Improved email options. Server system related warnings and error messages can be sent to predefined groups (and their users).
• Error resolved. An error that occurred in the web server (in the Job list section) when filtering according to Job name or Upload type has been resolved.

SYSTEM PERFORMANCE and STABILITY

A stable and efficient software is vital and will be improved by these adjustments:

• Error resolved. An error that was found to occur during FTP uploads has been resolved. Data will be correctly backed up and no empty files will be created in the backup directory. (Please note: this error was uncommon and only occurred in exceptional cases).
• Improved setup signing process to minimize false positives generated by virus scanners. This was known to impact the 7za.exe file.
• Database server load was reduced to ensure improved performance of the Factory Floor Status.
• Parallel server behavior was adjusted to enable for better coordination of timeouts (for processes running in the background) when performing a component Check-Out.
• Process handling improved to prevent excessive utilization of the server system’s working memory. (Please note: this was uncommon and only occurred in exceptional cases).

OTHER

We have also conducted a number of additional changes to improve your user experience:

• We update deployed libraries with each release when they are stably available. \"This product includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit (http://www.openssl.org/).\"
