Additional Image Service functions
Overview of installed software
In addition to backing up your Windows computer, the Image Service generates the JSON file software_info.json with an overview of the software installed on the computer. This file contains the following information:
- Device name
- Installation date
- Version and build number of the operating system
- Device drives
- For every installed software:
- Name of the software
- Version
- Manufacturer
- Installation date
The software list is generated during job execution and can then be found in the backup in the client and server archive and, if a version is generated, directly in the Project tree.
This allows the software list to be compared with the one in the previous backup or version.
Display software list
- You can open the file directly from the Backup.zip file.
- You can copy the Backup created with the job to a directory. Note: The backup directory contains the entire image and can therefore become very large. This process can therefore take a very long time.
- We suggest you proceed as follows: set the job configuration to generate a new Version in case of differences after job execution. Then, you can always open the latest software list directly via the Project tree in the UserClient.
- Check the checkbox Enable automatic creation of a version.
- If differences are detected during job execution, a new version will be generated.
- Check out the generated version in the UserClient.
