KB-126828: Configuring QR Code recognition

Configuring QR Code recognition

A file in XML format is used to configure QR Code recognition. The configuration file needs to have the name qr-mapping.xml and it needs to be stored in the following directory:

…vdServerArchiveVD$AWebServer

The configuration file can be manually generated in the directory or automatically generated by scanning an unknown QR code. If you choose to generate the configuration file manually, you need to ensure that the processing instructions are present in the encoded configuration file.

To display information (taken from the device by scanning the QR code) in the report Factory Floor Status – Device overview, you need to enter the job name of the decoded QR code in the configuration file. This will allow you to obtain information from the device. You can also add the path to the component (together with the component name) and enter a comment.

Note

Instead of entering the job name, you can enter the Job ID. The job name and the Job ID both use the same XML tag. If you decide to enter the Job ID, then it is not necessary to enter the path to the component.

Example code:

````<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?&gt ;```
```<!DOCTYPE qrcodescanner&gt ;```
```<devices&gt ;```
```<device&gt ;```
```<qrkey&gt ;```
```</qrkey&gt ;```
```<jobname>`110 S 7`<jobname/&gt ;```
```<componentpath>`Werk 1Halle 1Bereich 1110 S 7`</componentpath&gt ;```
```<comment>`Kommentar</comment&gt ;```
```</device&gt ;```
```</devices&gt ;```
Possible display for this code example:
Unknown QR codes can be entered manually in the configuration file qr-mapping.xml or else they can be scanned by a octoplant user (with admin rights) automatically to the configuration file via the MobileApp. Scanning the QR code will automatically generate an QR code entry in the configuration file. However, the job name and path to the component are empty and will need to be added at a later point so that the QR Code information can be displayed in Factory Floor Status.
To scan an unknown QR Code, proceed as follows:
  1. Click on the menu button (left hand side) in the MobileApp, go to the QR-Code Scanner and scan the QR Code
  2. Enter a comment for the newly scanned QR Code and confirm it in the confirmation messageThe scanned QR Code (together with the comment) is automatically entered in the configuration fileqr-mapping.xml
Note
We strongly advise that you do not scan QR Codes while simultaneously making changes to the configuration file
qr-mapping.xml Scanning QR Codes while simultaneously editing configuration files can lead to problems!
Note
Spaces at the beginning and end of the QR Code are not relevant for processing information and will be ignored.
