Using agents to connect octoplant with the TwinCAT System Manager
- Install an upload agent and a compare agent on the IPC.
- Start the AdminClient and configure the Upload agent and Compare agent and give them both a name.
TwinCAT uses AMS Net ID to facilitate communication between devices. This is why you need to assign a virtual AMS Net ID to your octoplant agents.
Assigning a virtual AMS Net ID to your octoplant agent
- Create a
AgentStation.ini
file (if you have not already done so) on the computer on which the agent is installed (in most cases this will be the IPC). Do so in the following directory: D:vdAgentArchiveVD$AConfigurationUpload - Enter the
AgentStation.ini
file in the [TwinCAT] (if it has not already been added to this section) and enter the key 5370 and your AMS Net ID (for example, 10.255.50.142.10.10) underneath. (This value must be unique in your entire network. We recommend that you use the AMS Net ID of the IPC. However, we also recommend that you replace the last two digits with .10.10, if this AMS Net ID is not already in use).
For example:
Configure TwinCAT V2 with the software TwinCAT System Control on the IPC, on which you wish to carry out an upload.
