Parallel server system: Restoring data (one server fails)
Example scenario: During operation, a hardware failure causes the system of server B of the parallel server network to become disrupted. Server A is still fully operational. Parallel server operation should be re-established with minimal data loss, i.e. server B should be brought back to server A. Ideally, there will be no data loss.
Requirements
- Server B was rebuilt after the failure to the extent that the octoplant server can be installed. The current octoplant system has been uninstalled and is no longer available.
- The user, who restores the backup, must have administrator rights on the server system.
Restoring data
- Restore the backed-up data to the
vdServerArchive
directory of server B. If there is a remote archive, copy them to thevdServerArchive
directory of the remote share of server B. - Install the octoplant Server applications using the
Setup.exe
file from the octoplant Setup directory. During installation, select the Server with existing server archive option to include the backed-up server archive.
Warning
We recommend that the installation with existing server archive is done with the same octoplant
version with which the server archive was created.
