Switching between a remote and a local server archive
Moving data from a remote archive to a local archive

End the service MasterService in Windows task manager.

Change the name of the local server archive to
vdServerArchiveOld
. - Copy the remote server archive on your local hard drive and rename it to
vdServerArchiveRemote
. Therefore, the two directoriesvdServerArchiveOld
andvdServerArchiveRemote
are located in your local drive. - Delete from the
vdServerArchiveRemote
directory all directories whose name begins with “VD$”. - Then copy these directories from the
vdServerArchiveOld
directory to thevdServerArchiveRemote
directory. - Open the file
Server.ini
in the..vdServerArchiveVD$AConfiguration
directory. - In the
Server.ini
file, go to the entry 5508= and delete the value of the key so that only the 5508= entry remains. - Rename the
vdServerArchiveRemote
directory tovdServerArchive
. - Restart the service MasterService.

Copy the local server archive to the desired location on the network drive.
- Open the file
Server.ini
in the directory..vdServerArchiveVD$AConfiguration
. - In the
Server.ini
file, go to the entry 5508= and add the path to the new directory in the network drive as the value of the key, for example, 5508=myNASversiondogvdServerArchive. -
Delete from your local server archive all directories except the following: These directories contain the databases and other important data and must always be present on the server.

All directories with “VD$” in the name
VD_TMP_VD
vdog agent setup

vdog client setup

Make sure that the user account used to start the MasterService service has all the necessary rights to the remote archive on the network drive.
- Restart the service MasterService.
