octoplant parallel server option

If the performance limit of a single server is reached or if the availability should be increased, it can be extended to a parallel server system.

Figuratively speaking, two single servers are operated next to each other. They are always kept in sync. If a new version is created on server 1, it is also copied to server 2 and vice versa. The advantage here is that two servers can provide the same service at the same time. If one of them is working at its limit, then the other takes on the workload. Unlike a master/slave configuration where only one server remains active (the master) and the slave steps in if there is a failure, with a octoplant parallel server both servers provide the full functionality of octoplant at the same time.

The above diagram depicts the parallel server with a remote archive which, however, is also possible with a local archive. As shown in the diagram, the parallel server is made up of two linked single servers which have been synchronised with one another. This type of synchronisation is not to be confused with the Server Synchronisation add-on, however.
