Copying, moving, and changing the name of a component or directory

Changing the name of a component or a directory

  1. Check-out the component or directory that you wish to rename. If you wish to rename a directory, you will need to check-out all components in that directory.
  2. Right-click on the component or directory and select Rename.
  3. Give the component or directory a new name.
  4. The component or directory will be displayed twice. Once with the new name and once with the old name (this will be greyed out).
  5. Select the renamed component or directory and click on Check-In.
  6. The greyed out component or directory will no longer be displayed.

Moving a component or directory in the project tree

  1. Check-Out the component or directory (with all components and subdirectories entailed).
  2. Right-click on the component or directory and select Cut.
  3. Go to the directory, in which you wish to move the component or directory.
  4. Right-Click on the directory and select Paste.
  5. The component or directory will be displayed twice. Once in the new directory and once in the original location (which will appear greyed out).
  6. Select the component or directory that you just moved and click on Check-In.
  7. The greyed out component or directory will no longer be displayed.

Alternatively, you can move components or directory by using drag-and-drop + Shift key. The component or directory must then be checked in.

Copying the component or directory into the project tree

  1. Check-out the component or directory. You can do this by selecting it and clicking on Check-Out.
  2. Right-click on the component or directory and select Copy.
  3. Only selected components (or directories containing components) will be copied. The contents of individual components will need to be manually copied (according to need). Use Windows Explorer to do this.
  4. Go to the directory that you wish to copy the component or directory to.
  5. Right-click on the directory and select Paste.
  6. Select the component or directory that you just pasted and click on Check-In. The component or directory has been successfully copied.

Alternatively, you can copy components or directories using drag-and- drop . The component or directory will need to be checked in.
