TwinCAT V3 is installed on the octoplant server
You need to assign an AMS Net-ID to the octoplant server so that the TwinCAT software is able to communicate with the octoplant server.
Assigning an AMS Net ID to your octoplant server
- Create a new
AgentStation.ini
file (if this file is not already present) on the same computer, on which the octoplant server is running. Do so in the following directory:<vdServerArchive>
VD$AConfigurationUpload. - Enter the
AgentStation.ini
file in the [TwinCAT] section (if it has not already been added to this section) and enter the key 5370 and your AMS Net ID (for example, 10.255.50.142.10.10) underneath. This value must stand for your octoplant server or agent. We recommend that you use the AMS Net-ID of the IPC. We also recommend that you replace the last two digits with .10.10. If this AMS Net ID is already in use, select the next available AMS Net ID.
Example:
To configure TwinCAT V3 on the IPC from which you wish to carry out the upload, follow the steps listed below. You require a remote connection between the IPC and the octoplant server.
- Right-click on the TwinCAT Tray icon in the task list.
- Select Change AMS Net-ID to open the AMS Router dialog. Note down the AMS Net ID displayed there (you need it for Job configuration later).
- Right-click on the TwinCAT icon and select Edit router. This opens the TwinCAT Static Routes dialog.
- In the TwinCAT Static Routes dialog, select Add…. This opens the Add Route dialog.
- Enter the following information into the fields:Route Name (Target): Choose a descriptive name for the connection (for example, octoplant + device name)AMS Net-ID: Enter the AMS Net ID that you entered in the
AgentStation.ini
(mentioned in step 2).Address Info: Enter the IP address or the host name of the computer on which the octoplant server is running. Alternatively, enter the name of the computer on which the agent is installed.Transport: In the dropdown menu, select the TCP/IP option and click on OK.Remote Route: Select the None option. - Close the dialog and restart your computer so that the changes are recognized by the TwinCAT runtime.
- Repeat these steps for each TwinCAT device that you wish to backup.
