Integrating projects
Integrating an already existing SINUMERIK controller archive
A SINUMERIK control archive, created with the Siemens HMI, can contain the following data: the ** HMI, the NC data, loadable compile cycles, the PLC data and the Profibus drives**.
- Create a New component in UserClient. Select Sinumerik840D in the Siemens -> NC directory as the component type.
- In Windows Explorer, go to the folder where your 840D device arc archive is saved.
- Copy the arc data to the working directory of the component.
- In the Project tree of the UserClient, select the SINUMERIK component and click on Create base version and Check-In.
The data of your SINUMERIK 840D are integrated in and can be managed using octoplant.
Note
The component type Sinumerik840D can be modified to suit your individual needs.
Creating a new SINUMERIK project
Note
File names in the NC archive are not permitted to be longer than 49 characters and may not contain special characters except for “_” (underscore). Otherwise they will not be saved when the backup is created.
- Create a new component in the UserClient. Select Sinumerik840D in the Siemens-> NC directory as the component type.
- In the project tree of the UserClient, select the SINUMERIK component and click on Create base version and Check-In.
- Create a backup job for the empty SINUMERIK component. For more information, see Jobs for SINUMERIK 840D HMI Advanced. Execute the job once.
- Open the UserClient and click on the empty SINUMERIK component. In the Jobs tab, click on Copy backup to directory. The tab is located under Backup. Select the SINUMERK component Working directory as the Target directory. Click on Next.
- Create a version and execute a check-in.
The data of your SINUMERIK 840D are now integrated and can be managed in octoplant.
Integrating further SINUMERIK control data
For disaster recovery and for detailed comparison, save the PCU data, the data of the CF card of the NCU, the Basesys.ini and, if applicable, the data of a S7 project. All of these files are saved in the same way as a SINUMERIK archive arc in octoplant.
- Secure PCU files ([Partition] :DH directory) in a Binary component.
- Create the backup of the CF card belonging to the NCU using, for example, Drive Snapshot, or Acronis, and save it in a Binary component.
- Secure the NCU Basesys.ini file using the SSH connection and save this as a WindowsINI component in octoplant.
- If you have the S7 project in your SINUMERIK controller, you can secure the project either in the SINUMERIK or in your S7 component in octoplant. If you secure the S7 project in the SINUMERIK component, create an individual subdirectory for the S7 project.
- To restore the arc archive without Step 7, secure the SPS files from the Siemens arc separately.
