Manually importing groups and users
Users and groups from Active Directory can be imported to octoplantautomatically or manually.
With manual import, you decide yourself when and how often you import users and groups from Active Directory.
Note
The manual import can be performed as often as required.
To be able to carry out a manual import, the Active directory binding needs to be configured and activated. The following steps must be carried out in advance:
In order to carry a manual import, proceed as follows:

In the Synchronisation tab, select the button Import now.Select the Synchronisation tab and click on the button Import now !!! note The Import now button is only active if the configuration of the Active Directory binding has been activated. Without activation, imports are not possible. If the Active directory binding configuration has been activated but the button Import now is still inactive, check and confirm the settings in the Active directory binding again.

The manual import will now be carried out.
In general:
- Users and groups newly imported into octoplantwill be highlighted in the User management and are read-only. To remove the write protection and color marking, the Active Directory connection must be deactivated. To deactivate the Active Directory connection, click the Activate button on the Synchronization tab (if the Active Directory connection is deactivated, the Activate button is not highlighted in orange).
- Users with octoplant or AUVESY (in upper or lower case) as part of the name, will not imported . These will be ignored during the import.
- The amount of users that can be imported will depend on your license. For more information regarding your license, please contact us.
- Groups, which are imported via the field DN “All Users†group and don’t exist yet, are newly created during the import into and initially have no rights. The imported users of the groups also have no initial rights. The imported users are assigned to both the newly created group and the All Users group.
- Groups that are imported via the field DN “All Users†group, are not assigned as groups. Their users are instead imported directly into the Administrators group and will be assigned Administrator rights. Furthermore, the imported users are assigned to the group All Users.
