Integrating existing RSLogix 5000 projects
To integrate existing RSLogix 5000 projects, proceed as follows:
- Open the UserClient and create a component of the component type RSLogix 5000, which you will find in the Rockwell directory.
- Right-click on the selected component and then choose Open in file manager or press Ctrl+E.
- Copy the ACD file to the directory you opened in step 2.
- In UserClient, open the file in your editor by right-clicking on Open with editor.
- The RSLogix 5000 editor will open. When you make changes, save your data and then close the editor.
- In the UserClient, click on Create and Check-In the base version.
You can now manage this project in octoplant.
Creating new RSLogix 5000 projects
- Open the UserClient and create a new RSLogix 5000 component.
- Start the RSLogix 5000 Editor.

Create a new project and save it. !!! note Make sure that you save the project in your RSLogix 5000 component folder.

Close the RSLogix 5000 editor.
- In UserClient, click on Create and Check-In the base version.
Your new project can now be managed by octoplant and you can start RSLogix 5000 Pro using octoplant directly by pressing F4, right clicking on the component and then selecting Open with editor. Alternatively, click on Open with editor located in the ribbon.
Saving RSLogix 5000 devices data without a project
If you have no access to the device and you want to save RSLogix 5000 device data, proceed as follows:
- Open the UserClient and create a new RSLogix 5000 component.
- Click on Check-In without base version.
You can now create jobs for the component and create backups of the data.

The component type RSLogix5000 can be modified to suit your individual needs.
