Restoring a backup of a ControlLogix device
To restore a backup created using octoplant on a ControlLogix device, proceed as follows:
- In the UserClient select your RSLogix 5000 project.
-
In Component details, click on the Jobs tab. A backup only appears in the lower dialog if the backup job has already been successfully executed. !!! note Please note that you have the ability to set the number of backups in the job configuration. This can be found by going to AdminClient -> Job configuration -> Upload and Compare -> Number of backups retained (rollover).
-
Right-click on the backup and select Copy backup to directory.
- To select the file into which you want to decompress the backup, click on Browse. We recommend that you decompress the backup into a temporary file (NOT in your working directory). The backup contains a ACD file.
Note
- When you decompress the backup into your working directory, you will be asked to choose between Delete contents then copy and Replace and copy. If you select Delete contents then copy, you will loose the
_BAK???.acd files. (Backups produced by RSLogix for every file revision). This will not, however, pose an issue as octoplant saves this file in the same format as the previous version of the project. 1. Download the project using the RSLogix 5000 software or Logix Designer onto the device:
For further information regarding this process, please refer to this step in the CLX machine documentation or in the handbooks for RSLogix 5000 Professional Edition or Logix Designer.
