Restoring devices
You can use the compare capabilities of versiondog to find out if the program running on a device is the same as the most recent version on the server. If the job results show that changes have been made to the program on the device, you might want to restore your device to an older version.
To restore an S5 device from a version, take the following steps:
- Open the UserClient.
- Check-Out the version of the S5 component that you want to restore.
- Open the S5 project with the corresponding editor (STEP 5).
- In the S5 editor, use the function you usually use to transfer the project to the device.
- Open the UserClient.
- Select the component of the project that you want to restore.
- In the component overview section, click on Jobs.
- Right-click on the backup that you want to carry out a restoration with and click on Copy backup to directory.
- Click on Browse and select the directory, in which the contents that you wish to copy for the backup are located (this content will be deleted before the copy process begins).
- Open the Simatic S5 project from the backup with the STEP 5 editor.
- Use the STEP 5 editor to transfer the project to the device.
