Methods for backing up data

There are a number of ways to secure data. When creating images with Acronis, versiondog supports the full backup and differential backup methods

• In a full backup, all the data is saved in an image every time.
• In a differential backup, only data that has been changed or added since the last full change is saved. The differential backup therefore requires a full backup that was previously created.

In the job configuration, specify whether differential backups are always created and at what intervals you want to run full backups.

If a job is executed before the configured time period is exceeded, a differential backup is created.

If the configured time interval has been exceeded since the last full backup, a new full backup will be created.

A restoration will require both the full and differential backup copy.

A differential backup that is carried out on a regular basis requires less disk space than a full backup. However, the backup restore is slower than the full backup because the last full backup and all the differential backups made since the full backup was made are needed for a restore.
