Installing and configuring the Gateway
If your SINUMERIK system is only connected to the internal machine network, then the NCU for versiondog is only accessible through the PCU (HMI-PC). In this situation, you need to install the versiondog Gateway on the PCU (HMI-PC).
Requirements and characteristics
- A maximum of one gateway can be active on a single computer.
- A gateway operating between two TCP/IP networks will require a license.
- A gateway operating between two different network types is not required to have a license (for example, TCPIP<->MPI, TCPIP<->Profibus, TCPIP<->Profinet).
- When configured correctly, the gateway can complete a wide range of tasks (for example, establish the communication to versiondog Agents and a gateway for versiondog clients).
- Theversiondog gateway is usually installed on the PCU of your SINUMERIK 840D.
Procedure
- To install the versiondog Gateway double-click on the VDogGateway.exe file (path to the file:
..installation filesversiondogtoolsvdoggateway)
. - Open the file VDogGateway.ini that was created during the installation in
..installation filesversiondogVD$AConfiguration
. - Configure the VDogGateway.ini file using the following parameters:
Note
The VDogGateway.ini file is valid for different application situations and must therefore be edited for each controller.
Section Key Allowed values Default value Description
SimaticNET Enabled Y, N Y
Y= SimaticNet is installed.
N= SimaticNet is not installed.
AccessName Letters, Space S7Online Name of access point. Example: PC internal (local).
TCPIP Port 1 … 65535 102
The VDogGateway service communicates using the standard 102 port (RFC1006). If this port is already being used by another application or is reserved for another application (for example, by the Siemens IEPG Helper Service, name of the service: s7oiehsx.exe), assign a different port number.
SSH Enabled Y, N N
The SSH communicates with the NCU to upload the Loadable compile cycles.
Y= enables the SSH communication with the NCU.
N= disables the SSH communication with the NCU.
Port 1 … 65535 22
The default value is set to 22 (TCP) because the gateway communicates through SSH in combination with the NCU ( example: Port=65022).
IpAddressServer<NCU IPÂ address >
192.168.214.1
IP address or computer name of the NCU on which the SSH server is installed. You can use placeholders (?, *).
Example: IpAddressServer=192.168.210.6,192.168.210.,192.168..*
IpAddressesClient<server, agent, BackupClient IP addresses>
No default value
The IpAddressesClient keyword is used to assign IP addresses of nodes that are allowed to access the NCU. Enter the IP address or the computer name of the versiondog server that is the client for the NCU. Separate the addresses or names by commas. You can use placeholders (?, *).
Example: IPADDRESSESCLIENT = 192.168.210.6, 192.168.210.,192.168..*
- After successfully installing the versiondog Gateway, restart the service VDog Gateway.
