KB-132781: Configuring comparators

Configuring comparators

The Emerson PAC Machine Edition comparator configuration enables you to set how broad you want the comparison to be. You can either exclude program blocks from the comparison or restrict the comparison to individual blocks. The same applies to initial values and forced values of variables.

  1. Start the UserClient and go to the GE Proficy ME component.
  2. Press Alt+ Enter or right-click the component and select Edit component configuration or go to the tab Edit in the ribbon then select Component properties.
  3. In the dialog Component properties, click on Comparator configuration….
  4. The dialog Configure comparison will then open. 1.GE_Proficy_Compare_config.png1.Image: Comparison configuration
  5. In the dropdown menu Project, select your project.
  6. Check the checkbox Shared project, if the Emerson PAC Machine project has been set as the shared project.

To include or exclude a program block from a comparison, proceed as follows:

  1. Use the radio button in the upper part of the Program blocks section to select whether you want to exclude certain program blocks from the comparison or whether you want to limit the comparison to individual program blocks.
  2. Depending on the selection, the columns are named in the table below.
  3. Enter one or more new lines by clicking on the Insert button.
  4. Specify in the columns of the table which program blocks you want to exclude from the comparison: – Excluded or included program blocks: Enter the name of the program blocks. – Check existence: Here you can decide if the program block’s presence is to be checked or not. – Excluded or included program blocks: Here, you need to enter the program block’s rung. You have the option to enter multiple rungs for a program block. You can enter individual rungs (separated by “,†, a range of rungs [with “-â€] or a combination of both. Example: 1, 5-8, 14).

Note

  1. In all columns, you can use (?/*) placeholders. By pressing the Delete icon, you can remove a program block from

the list if necessary. 1. Add new program blocks via the Import button. A text box will open, where you will be able to copy a list of program blocks. Each program block must be in a new line.

In the section variables, two columns are available in which you can exclude initial values or forced values of variables from the comparison or restrict the comparison to these only.

  1. Use the radio buttons in the respective column to select whether you want to exclude certain variables from the comparison or restrict the comparison to individual variables.
  2. In the text field of the respective column, add all variables whose initial values you want to exclude from the comparison or whose initial values you want to restrict the comparison to.

Note

  1. When entering values, you can use (?/*) placeholders.
  1. Confirm by clicking on OK.

The configuration implemented here takes into account in the comparisons between the backup and the version, the version and the version as well as the backup and the backup.
