KB-132848: Parallel server system: Restoring data (one server fails)

Parallel server system: Restoring data (one server fails)

Example scenario: During operation, a hardware failure causes the system of server B of the parallel server network to become disrupted. Server A is still fully operational. Parallel server operation should be re-established with minimal data loss, i.e. server B should be brought back to server A. Ideally, there will be no data loss.

Requirements

  • Server B was rebuilt after the failure to the extent that the versiondog server can be installed. The current versiondog system has been uninstalled and is no longer available.
  • The user, who restores the backup, must have administrator rights on the server system.

Restoring data

  1. Restore the backed-up data to thevdServerArchivedirectory of server B. If there is a remote archive, copy them to thevdServerArchivedirectory of the remote share of server B.
  2. Install the versiondog Server applications using theSetup.exefile from the versiondog Setup directory. During installation, select the Server with existing server archive option to include the backed-up server archive.

Warning

We recommend that the installation with existing server archive is done with the same versiondog

version with which the server archive was created.
