KB-132850: Creating a project from a backup

Creating a project from a backup

RSLogix 500 creates its own backups and revised files. versiondog is normally configured so that these files are ignored during a comparison as well as when a new version is created. This means that these backups are not present in the files that have been versioned. If you do not want these backups files to be ignored, change your RSLogix 500 component type to ensure that the _BAK???.rss file is no longer ignored when creating versions.

Note

This change is applied to all components of this type.

Note

The size of your archive will quickly grow with every change made and can take up a considerable amount of space on your

server.

How to change your RSLogix 500 component type:

  1. Start the AdminClient.
  2. Click on Component type editor.
  3. In the project tree, go to Rockwell and select the component type RSLogix500.
  4. Select the line containing _BAK???.rss in Ignore these files. Right-click and select Delete row.

  5. Image: Module Component Type Editor, Save_BAK??.rss files

Note

Alternative: When you want to add an earlier backup or version, rename the _BAK??? file in your project file.

If you change or remove the BAK part of the file name, the file will no longer be ignored and will instead be added to the version and saved by versiondog.
