Working with STA instead of STU files
In Schneider Unity Pro, STA files can be created from the STU project files. These STA files are smaller than the original STU files and provide some compatibility between different versions of Unity.
Creating a component type for STA files management
If you intend to work only with the STA files, we recommend creating a new component type. You can base this new component type on a copy of the Schneider Unity component type.
If you copied the Schneider Unity component type, you need to remove the STU files from the Compare these files field and replace it with STA.
This way you achieve that STA files are compared automatically without creating a new component type
By default, the Schneider Unity component in versiondog is configured to only take STU project files into account during the compare process and there is no component type pre-configured for STA files.
If you don’t want to create a new component type, you can modify the existing Schneider Unity component type to allow the comparison of STA files:
- Open your AdminClient.
- In the ribbon, click on Component type editor.
-
In the Component types library:
- Expand the Schneider folder.
- Expand the SPS folder lying therein.
-
Select the Schneider Unity Component type.
- In the column in the middle of the screen, select the second line of the field Compare these files then:
- Add the entry STA to the column Specification.
- In the Comparator column, select SchneiderUnity from the drop down menu.
- Select Include in the drop down menu of the Subdirectories column
- Click on Save
From then on, not only STU files but also STA files will be compared.
Note
If you want to compare a STU with an STA file, use the free comparator of versiondog. To do this, the
version of the Schneider Unity Pro Editor installed must match the version of the editor used to create the STU file.
This is how versiondog handles components that contain both an STA and an STU file
If the component is set to include STA files in the comparison, a list of files that can be opened via Open in Editor is displayed.
The files are displayed in a pop-up and you must select which one to open with the Schneider Unity Pro Editor.
Note
The Schneider Unity Pro Editor creates an STU file after editing an STA file.
