Installing the gateway

The installation of the gateways is executed using theVDogGateway.exefile. The file can be found under ..toolsvdoggateway.

Requirement

  • The user or user account from which the installation is performed has the necessary rights for installation.

To install a gateway, proceed as follows:

  1. Copy the directoryvdoggatewayto your local machine.
  2. Open the Windows command prompt.
  3. Install the service by entering the following command at the Windows command prompt: <drive:>vdoggatewayVDogGateway.exe /install
  4. Check whether the installation was successful.
    1. Select Control Panel > Administrative tools and then double-click on Services.The dialog Services will now be displayed.
    2. Check whether the VDogGateway entry is listed among the servicesIf the service is not present, the installation was not successful. Contact your system administrator, you may not have the necessary rights to carry out an installation.
  5. Start the service.
    1. Enter the following command in the Windows command prompt and confirm with the Return key: <drive:>vdoggatewayVDogGateway.exe /start

Note

  1. After installing the gateway, various communication paths are directly switched active, including the functionality

of the network transition (for example, key of the section [SimaticNet] is active). For this communication path, the SIMATIC NET software with the required network interface support must be available (installed and licensed) If the software is not present, the service cannot be started. If you do not wish to use this communication path, then disable gateway functionality.

Note

  1. A maximum of one gateway can be active as a service on a single computer.

Note

  1. The service VDogGateway can be stopped and uninstalled if required:
    • Command for stopping the service:<Drive:>vdoggatewayVDogGateway.exe /stop
    • Command to uninstalling the service:<drive:>vdoggatewayVDogGateway.exe /deinstall
