Editing projects
Edit your project as usual. versiondog does not influence this work in any way. Bear the following important points in mind:
- The working directory of the client archive on your local PC is the storage location of the project or file you are currently editing.
- The key combination Ctrl+E opens your file manager (for example, Windows Explorer) and in it the working directory of the item currently that was selected in the project tree.
- Changes that you make and save are saved locally (in the working directory).
- Your changed files are not automatically copied to the server archive.
To save backup copies of “intermediate states” of your work in the server archive before you have reached a state of which you want to create a version, proceed as follows:
-
Save the project or file.
-
Close it.
- Then use the quicksave (see also Quicksave).
After you have made your changes and reached a state from which you want to create a version (a version is a documented “snapshot” of your project to which you can return at any time), proceed as follows: Save the project or file, close the editor, and then proceed as described in Creating a new version and carrying out a check-in.
Note
If you only want to perform the three basic functions of the UserClient (check-out, edit project in the editor and
create new version and check-in), you can also use the EasyClient.
