Required user rights for the server system
Required rights to install / update the server
In order to install a versiondogserver, the user, running theSetup.exe
file, must have local administrator rights and start the setup accordingly using these rights. Right-click on the Setup.exe file and then select Run as administrator.
This administrator user must have full access to all directories containing the server archive and the remote server archive.
For security reasons, some services are started with reduced privileges during the installation and when operating the system. It is therefore necessary to define a standard user prior to the installation, who has the necessary access rights to read and execute for the installation directory (for example,C:Program Files (x86)
).
Rights of the user used to start the server
Usually, the versiondog server is installed as a service running under any user. This does not have to be an administrator for the base system. A standard user is sufficient.
If you decide to use a standard user, there may however be restrictions on the use of individual third-party editors used in uploads and/or comparisons of certain component types. In this case, agents can also be used.
User rights for the installation directory
Standard users need access rights to read and execute the installation directory, even if the versiondog server is running using a user with administrator rights.
User rights for the local server archive and, if applicable, remote archive
The owner of the full directory and its contents should be the user, whose account is being used to run the versiondog server. This user must have full access to the directory. The default user does not necessarily have to have full access. However, there must not be any rules that prevent full access for the default user.
