KB-133135: Creating a project from a backup

Creating a project from a backup

RSLogix 5000 creates its own backups and revised files. versiondog is normally configured so that these files are ignored during a comparison as well as when a new version is created. This means that these backup are not present in the files that have been versioned. If you do not want these backup files to be ignored, you have the option to save a RSLogix 5000 project file as well as the backup created by RSLogix 5000 when you save the changes made to a project. In order to archive RSLogix 5000 backups, you will need to change your RSLogix 5000 component type to ensure that the _BAK???.acd files are no longer ignored when creating versions.

Note

This change is not only restricted to this component but also to all other components of this type. The size of your

archive will quickly grow with every change made and can take up a considerable amount of space on your server.

Changing the RSLogix 5000 component type

  1. Start the AdminClient.
  2. Click on Component type editor.
  3. In the project tree, go to Rockwell and select the component type RSLogix5000.
  4. Select the file containing _BAK???.acd under Ignore these files. Right-click and select Delete row.rslogix5000_Component_Type_Editor.pngImage: Module Component Type Editor, Save _BAK??.acd files

Note

Alternatively: when you want to add an earlier backup or version, you will need to rename the _BAK??? file in

your project folder. If you change or remove the BAK part of the file name, the file will no longer be ignored and will instead be added to the version and saved by versiondog.
