Comparing projects

Notes on comparing projects of different versions

Proceed as follows to compare two projects that were created with different versions of Control Builder F but are to be compared on a computer on which a different version of Control Builder F is installed:

  1. Install licensed version of Control Builder F on a computer (Computer A).
  2. Install another licensed version of Control Builder F on another computer (Computer B).
  3. Create a directory with the path on computer A: 1.C:programABB.Industrial ITFreelance .<Version.subversion`
  4. Example:C:programABB Industrial ITFreelance.Freelance.9.2
  5. Copy the content of the Control Builder F program directory from computer B and place this into the program directory on computer A.
  6. Open your register editor.
  7. Go to `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Hartmann & BraunFreelance.
  8. Export the Freelancedirectory with the option Selected substructure under the name install.reg.
  9. Move the file install.reg from computer B to computer A in the directory that you just created: 1.C:ProgrammeABB Industrial ITFreelance .
  10. Open the file install.reg and enter the following entry into the third line: [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREHartmann & BraunFreelance]
  11. Save the registry key of the version from computer A in the directory:<drive:>vdClientArchiveVD$AABBFreelance. Thias process creates the files install.bat,**install.reg and deinstall.reg**.
  12. Activate the registry entries from the file install.reg on computer B.
  13. Export the project.
  14. Execute the file install.bat to restore the original status.
  15. Delete the directory<drive:>vdClientArchiveVD$AABBFreelance.
  16. It may be necessary in this case to run the install.bat file manually and then delete the <drive:>vdClientArchiveVD$AABBFreelancedirectory manually.

Note

If the files install.bat and/or install.reg are still present in the file<Drive:> vdClientArchiveVD$AABBFreelance, versiondog will assume that there are problems when you try to restore the original version. It may be possible to execute the file install.bat manually and to then delete the directory <Drive:>vdClientArchiveVD$AABBFreelance manually.
