KB-133451: Restoring a previous version of a program

Restoring a previous version of a program

To revert back to a previous version of a compiled file running on the PLC 5 device, proceed as follows:

  1. In the UserClient select the RSLogix 5 component.
  2. Copy the version of the RSLogix 5 that you want to revert to.

Note

If you do not know what version you need to use, you can use the comparator function. This will enable you to find out which version or backup corresponds to the version running on the device. 1. Right-click on the version then select Copy version. 1. Copy the version into your working directory or an empty directory.

Note

When you copy and place the version into your working directory, you will be asked if you want to Delete contents then copy or Cancel. If you select Delete contents then copy, you will lose the _BAK???.rspfiles. (Backups produced by RSLogix for every file revision). This will not however pose an issue as versiondog saves this file in the same format as the previous version of the project.

  1. Open the project in RSLogix 5. In versiondog, open the file in your editor by pressing F4 or right-clicking on Open with editor or click in the tab on Open with editor.
  2. Download the project using the RSLogix 5 software onto the device:

Note

For further information regarding this process, refer to this step in the PLC 5 machine documentation or the RSLogix 5 Pro software. 1. Go to Comms 1. Choose Download
