Gateways
A gateway enables communication between networks that are based on different protocols. By using gateways, completely different (heterogeneous) networks can be connected with one another.
The gateway supplied as standard with the versiondog system allows you to connect TCP/IP networks with H1, MPI or PROFIBUS networks. This allows the server to communicate with the following devices that are not accessible via the TCP/IP network:
- An automation device in the other network
- An automation device that can only be reached indirectly via a head controller
- A SSH server
- Agents
The CSC Gatewayadditionally enables network participants to communicate across the boundaries of two TCP/IP networks. Various scenarios can be implemented via the CSC gateway, for example client-server communication (for example Check-In or Check-Out), server-agent communication or the synchronization of two servers.
System requirements
No special hardware or software is required for using the gateway. The standard hardware and software requirements apply.
Note
In addition to the operating systems listed under Installation Requirements, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with SP6 and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional are also supported.
Why does the connection to devices that are accessed using the H1 protocol fail, even though the INAT H1 driver is installed?
Possible scenarios
- I have set up uploads and selected the H1 protocol as the access path. After installing other editors (for example, TIA Portal or SIMATIC NET) they suddenly do not work anymore.
- I have set up uploads and selected the H1 protocol as access path. These generally do not work.
Explanation
If you are using the H1 protocol for a device upload, all H1 protocols apart from the INAT H1 protocol must be deactivated.
Proceed as follows
- Go to Properties of the LAN connection.
- Check to see whether in addition to the INAT H1 there are any other H1 protocols still activated (for example, SIMATIC Industrial Ethernet (ISO)). If so, deactivate them.
