Parallel server system: Restore data (the entire system fails)
Example scenario: There is a complete data destruction of both server systems in parallel server operation. Parallel server operation should be re-established with minimal data loss. Ideally, there will be no data loss.
Requirements
- Both servers A and B were rebuilt after the failure to the extent that the versiondog server can be installed. The existing versiondog system has been uninstalled on both servers and is no longer available.
- The user, who restores the backup, must have administrator rights on the server system.
Restoring data
- Restore the backed-up data to the
vdServerArchive
directories of the two servers. If there is a remote archive, copy them to thevdServerArchive
directory of the remote share. - Server: Install the versiondog Server applications using the
Setup.exe
file from the versiondog Setup directory. During installation, select the Server with existing server archive option to include the backed-up server archive. - Server B: Install the versiondog Server applications using the
Setup.exe
file from the versiondog Setup directory. During installation, select the Server with existing server archive option to include the backed-up server archive.
Warning
We recommend that the installation with existing server archive is done with the same versiondog
version with which the server archive was created.
