Other requirements
Communication
Communication between server and client takes place using the TCP/IP protocol. The TCP/IP protocol needs to be activated on the corresponding computer.
User rights
In order to install versiondog, it is necessary to have (local) administrative rights on the server.
Account that executes the versiondog service
If project data is to be stored on a central drive, you will require a service user account with full access to the drive and administrative rights (local) on the server.
Email functionality
To enable the versiondog server to send notifications via email, an email account on an e-mail server with SMTP support must be available.
Software & drivers
- For some functions and in certain scenarios, additional software will be required. In some cases, this additional software must be purchased separately.
- Please note, in the case of 64 bit systems, certain hardware drivers must be installed.
- For S5 connections via the H1 protocol, the H1 driver included with versiondog can only be used up to and including Windows Server 2008. It may be necessary to obtain an additional H1 driver or use a versiondog Agent (available at extra charge) that is installed on another PC.
Minimum security requirements
- The versiondog server should be located within a network secured by a state of the art network. This includes firewalls as well as IDS and IPS systems. We recommend making the firewall rules as strict as possible and for this reason make a detailed list of the ports used available.
- Due to the constantly changing threat in the IT setting, the use of anti-malware products is essential. We recommend that you also install this anti-malware product on the versiondog server as well. You will have to however to set some exception rules for the versiondog service to ensure that the normal process is not affected.
