KB-133568: Integrating projects

Integrating projects

Emerson PAC Machine Edition uses a central repository to manage projects. This results in some special features in the cooperation between Emerson PAC Machine Edition and versiondog. For example, the folder, in which new projects are created, is determined by the editor. A new project cannot be created directly in a versiondog component, but must always be moved before it can be managed in versiondog. Some files must remain in the central repository to avoid errors.

Integrating new and existing projects

  1. Create a New component in the UserClient. Select Proficy Machine Edition in the GE directory as the component type.
  2. In Windows Explorer, go to the folder where your Emerson PAC Machine Edition project is stored.

Note

This is normally:C:Program FilesProficyProficyMachineEditionSecurWORXLocalFrameworX or`C:UserPublicDocumentsEmmersonPMESecurWORXLocalFrameworX `<PROJECT NAME>. If the project directory cannot be found under one of the mentioned paths, you can search for it using the .SwxCF file extension.

  1. Copy the project file (SwxCF) to the working directory of the previously created component. To do this, drag and drop the project file onto the component in the Project tree.

Note

If in addition to the Emerson PAC Machine Edition project file other files are also moved, then errors may occur.

  1. In the Project tree of the UserClient, select the Emerson PAC Machine Edition component and click on Create base version and Check-In.

From now on, the Open in editor function can be used to open and edit the project directly from versiondog.

Note

The component type Proficy Machine Edition can be modified to suit your individual needs.

Integrating previously exported projects

If an Emerson PAC Machine Edition project has been exported from the editor to a ZIP archive, the project cannot be inserted directly into versiondog. First, the project in the archive must be restored using the Emerson PAC Machine Edition Editor. After that, as indicated above in steps 1 – 4, copy the project file (SwxCF) into a versiondog component created for this specific component.

The Emerson PAC Machine Edition project is now integrated and can be managed within versiondog.

Note

Changes to Emerson PAC Machine Edition project will only be visible in versiondog once the editor has

been closed.
